We received news from a credible source that BestBuy Mobile will be getting an exclusive deal with Sprint for the Palm Pre release. For 60 days the number one consumer electronics retailer will be the only place where you can get your hands on the Palm Pre, besides Sprint of course. This partnership makes sense seeing the Sprint also launched the Samsung Instinct exclusively with them during the summer of 2008. This liaison will benefit all three of the companies in the deal. Best Buy will get its hands first which will make it the place to get the device. Sprint may come back to win over customers with Palm’s formidable touch phone.

I will never set foot in a Best Buy again and I would never choose Sprint as my provider. So, It looks like I will no longer be loyal to Palm.
It is clear that Palm is refocused and has a strategy to their marketing. Releasing on Sprint to start is a bummer, but getting this in Best Buy stores creates a ton of exposure to them. The Pre is going to sell like crazy!
I read somewhere in the web blogoshere that a Sprint executive said conusmers would be able to pre-order the Palm Pre but I only found a
website to be notified when the Pre was available for purchase. This is important because I also read that initially only 200,000 units would be available!!! I am very much interested in this device and will break my contract with AT & T to buy one!
I have a aging Treo 650 that is ready to be retired after 4 years of heavy use.
Anyone know when the Pre will be released?
As it looks like the only phone I would give up the Treo for.
This phone looks great. I have a 650 without a camera (for work security), I sent off a message to their volume business division to see if one would be available. Anyone know? I played with the iphone/blackberry, but don’t like the onscreen keyboard stuff (fingerprints, etc). The keyboard/slider mechanism looks good. Didn’t see a stylus in photos. Hope it also has SD-card support, etc.
I don’t have an iPhone, because I refuse to pay a single penny to thieving AT&T.
I can think of nothing more foolish than Palm and Sprint putting the most anticipated phone since the Iphone, in one retailer. While it might sell like crazy, that limits it to hundreds of stores instead of thousands of stores. I know that I will not shop at BB and so I would rather wait till a retailer near me, whether it be a Mom and Pop store or a RadioShack gets it.
HI looks very interesting! bookmarked your blog. john brightman
I went to the link you give to get the free gift card for toys from Kmart but it says I am not in USA and do not qualify, do you know if Kmart is doing this in canada too?
