Palm Pre will not work on the SERO plan

If you’re one of the lucky people who managed to get on Sprint’s SERO (Sprint Employee Referral Offer) plan, you’ll be upset to know that the Palm Pre won’t work on it. If you’re not familiar with it, the plan was only available to consumers who were referred by a Sprint employee. The minimum SERO plan started out at $30 per month for 500 minutes, unlimited text messaging, and unlimited data. Unfortunately, it is no longer available and replaced with the Everything Plus plan. If you’re looking to upgrade to the Pre, you’ll be required to change plans. It’ll need to be placed on an Everything Data or Everything Plus plan in order to work.

    Wow… thanks Sprint you suck.

  2. Randy James says:

    FML and F Sprint

  3. mike says:

Thanks sprint you just lost a customer to the iphone!

  4. ron says:

I still have my doubts. I have the HTC Touch Pro and they said the same thing about my phone, that I have to change to an everything plan. Well I found a deal through craigslist and got the HTC phone and activated it. STILL ON THE $30/mo SERO plan. I had to speak to at least six people from sprint when finally someone in the cancellation department told me my sero (data) plan will work just fine with the HTC Touch Pro. I may be wrong about the Pre but I think it’s obvious they’re just enticing everyone who wants a better phone to have to get a higher priced plan. It’s always about the money. I would say i hate spring but i still have my htc and my old sero plan.

You guys don’t even know. My dad is a Sprint employee, I AM NOT EVEN AN EMPLOYEE! And because I am on his plan I cannot get pre even if I pay full price. I am so sick of Sprints stupid ideas….some benefits…my dad she quit! Theyd lose a good project manager…The nerve

  6. What what? says:

Your dad is a she? lol

  7. ComplainToPalm says:

I’ve emailed Palm to let them know I’d like the Pre phone but Sprint is refusing to let me upgrade to it. I’d encourage the rest of you to do the same. Both Palm and Sprint are hurting very badly, anything that might soil their relationship is sure to get remedied right quick if attention is drawn to it.

Alternatively, I have heard there is a new Palm Centro-like device that will be available with another carrier if you guys just wanted to wait and switch providers. Seems like the only way to get a good deal is to switch cellphone providers every 2 years.

  8. oMG says:

What if you get the palm pre from like eBay. Can you activate it on like an unlimeted messaging??

    Wow… thanks Sprint you suck.

-Wow…. yes leave find a better deal at a different carrier. Ummm didn’t think so.

Do you actually think Sprint is making money off of your SERO plan?

  10. Garrett says:

Well for the price that they want to charge $69 for the new plan to use the Pre, you might as well switch to AT&T for an iphone or T-mobile for something else.

The only reason why I stayed with sprint is due to the plan even though they have shitty phones. Now they get a decent phone and I can’t get it, or the HTC’s…

  11. Chris says:

AT&T now had the new iPhone, which is much better than the Palm Pre anyway. For the price (even if it costs a little more than Sprint), it is worth the switch to AT&T, since their coverage is overall better than Sprint.

  12. Muko says:

can’t find email id of palm sales.

  13. Ken says:

data plan now costs same as the AT&T and iphone is cheaper than the Palm Pre. How do you compete Sprint?

  14. Manny says:

Sprint Will always compete no matter what. Sprint will be the first 4g provider anyway. ummmm… wow..

  15. splitsplut says:

The iPhone is definitely the best cell phone I’ve over owned, really happy I got it!

  16. anisa says:

okay so i got the SERO plan, and i gott his shiitty razr.
and its coming up to 1 year and they say i can update. but my plan is a 2 year contract
does anyone know what phones id be able to update too ?

  17. michelle says:

I think you can upgrade to all phones EXCEPT the Instinct and Palm Pre while staying on the SERO plan. Doesn’t hurt to ask the cust rep what phone is available for the SERO plan.

  18. Ramana says:

I am on the same boat. Afetr all my researches:
Palm Tre, BalckBerry, Instinct will cost 59.99 and will not come under Sero plan which is $30.00
All other phones except the above three are eligible for $30.00 sero plan.
Now it depends on what phone you are picking to get the additional features..I opted LG Lotus since it has GPS and all other features.

  19. Steve DDS says:

I have a centro now, but at one point is used blackberry with my SERO, and every one was saying that i need to add some kind of additional service to use blackberry. All i did was call the service without even telling them what phone it is, they connected it and it worked fine. I think that it worked because Sprint customer service people are just so dumb that they dont know what they are doing. I dont have a pre, but if someone does should try this and tell everyone how it goes.

P.S. my sero plan is 49.99 not 30.

  20. Mike says:

Yes, the website will try to make you switch to a new everything plus plan, as will customer service.

Just call employee accounts – 1-866-264-1282.

    Simple.

Just switched my grandfathered SERO plan to an HTC pro – no problem.
Also switched my wifes grandfathered SERO plan to a Palm Pre – no problem.

  21. jordan says:

how did you do it mike? i called the employee accounts number 3 different times and they were not able to switch the palm pre over. thanks.

  22. Joe says:

I’m with Jordan – I have tried every avenue … NO WAY will they put a Pre on a SERO plan. They won’t even discount a EPRP plan for the Pre! Give us names, numbers (extensions) CODES for Reps to enter to make it happen!!! :-D

  23. Z31k says:

Yeah, It’s all on how you speak to them and who you speak to. I have a BB and have had the internet activated and have had no problems so far,and it’s been a year. Now, I got an additional 2 phones added to my account, one in June and one last month, and had them both activated to the SERO plan. And they said That couldn’t be done….. So really it’s all in HOW you speak to them and who you speak to… Like I told my brother when he got added on to my account with his new BB, Keep calling till you find that one guy who just got off of training and really doesn’t know much about how things work. HE WILL CONNECT YOU!!! lol

  26. sprintuser says:

All over the web it says, that the pre will only be activated with certain plans, for those of you that got the pre active on your current plans, can you tell exactly what the employee did or how they activated the phone, since it needs a data plan to be operational
