Does the Pre screen need protection?

palm-pre-screen-protectorNothing detracts from the gorgeous elegance of the Palm Pre quite like a scratched-up screen. The Pre’s touchscreen is made of plastic, and unlike a glass display (like the one on the iPhone), a plastic one is very susceptible to scratches. Due to the small size of the Pre, it’s easy to throw in your pocket or purse, but is it the only thing you carry there?

If your Pre is keeping company with loose change, car keys, or other hard or sharp objects, then the tragedy you see on the left may play out for you as well. This unfortunate soul carried around his Pre in his front pocket for just a few days and then documented the wear and tear of his Pre’s screen as a warning to the rest of us. If you have a Pre, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure – get a screen protector on that baby ASAP! How has your Pre fared?

Now that more people have and are using the Pre the small defect complaints will start coming in. I keep my Pre in the cheap little pouch that comes with the device I hope that will aviod any scratches to the screen. I’ve also found that the ring volume is not loud enough and I still have not been able to change the SMS alert on the device the volume for the alert is also to low. I hope Palm will fix that in future updates.
