Order Palm Pixi from Wal-Mart for $30

Tags: , , , ,

Screen shot 2009-11-12 at 10.47.57 AMChoices for buying the new webOS-based Palm Pixi are becoming more interesting. On November 15th, you can walk into a Sprint store or one of it’s affiliates like Best Buy and Radio Shack, lay down $200 bucks (with $100 coming back as a main-in rebate), and walk out with a new Pixi.

Or, if you’re a patient person, you can pre-order on Wal-Mart’s web site and get a brand new Pixi for only $29.99. This price is for new contracts only — customers renewing their contract will pay $249.99 and the off-contract pricing is $499.99. Wal-Mart expects to have stock on November 24th, so maybe waiting another nine days is worth the $70 you can ultimately save. What do you think?

Screen shot 2009-10-26 at 11.23.28 PMWe now know that the Palm Pixi is planned to launch on November 15th, and it will include a new Facebook app for webOS. We don’t know yet what bells and whistles will be included in the webOS Facebook app, but the fact it will show up on the Pixi makes us hopeful that it may also be available for the Pre.

Whether you are contemplating a Palm Pre or Pixi, is a Facebook app a must-have for you to seal the deal? Let us know what you think!

Palm Pre for $99.99 on Amazon

Tags: , , , ,

Screen shot 2009-10-26 at 11.02.57 PMIt happened before and is happening again — Amazon is selling the Palm Pre for just $99.99 — no rebates, no hoops to jump through. If the price alone isn’t enough to help you pull the trigger, how about free 2-day shipping AND $5 worth of free MP3 downloads?

This is very interesting news indeed, particularly in light of the imminent release of the Palm Pixi for the same price. However, Sprint will require a $100 mail-in rebate, so your out-of-pocket expense for Pixi bliss is $199.99. The Pre also offers more firepower with a faster processor and WiFi. If the super-thin form-factor of the Pixi is what you are looking for, then it may be the handset for you. Or, you can head over to Amazon now and pick up a Pre for just $99.99, period.

Palm Pixi available at Sprint for $99.99 on November 15th!

Tags: , , , ,

thumb_450_paml-pixi-01Palm has announced that their newest, thinnest webOS-based device, the Palm Pixi, will be launching on November 15th on Sprint’s network for $99.99 after an instant rebate of $50 and a mail-in rebate of $100. Yes, be prepared to lay down $199.99 at the Sprint store, but make sure the salesperson has everything put together for you so you have an easy time claiming the $100 rebate.

The Pixi is, as expected, the replacement for the Centro – similar price, similar hardware configuration, but brand-new webOS goodness. The Pixi lacks WiFi, has a smaller screen than the Pre, and the processor is a tad bit slower. Performance-wise, it is certainly not an upgrade to the Pre, but in it’s own right, it offers a lot of bang for the buck.

Available on launch day will be the Touchstone cover ($19) for wireless charging. Artist covers are also available for the Pixi, but there is no word yet on launch-day availability or price. Are you headed to Sprint on November 15th for a shiny new Pixi? Is the price what you expected?

Two ways to win a Palm Pixi

Tags: , , ,

Pixi contestTo add to the excitement of the impending release of the Palm Pixi, Palm is offering a couple different ways to win over 25 free webOS devices. If you sign up on Palm’s Blog, you will have a chance to win one of 25 Palm Pixi handsets being given away by Palm.

Another way to win is by heading over to Palm’s Facebook page and leave a comment. All comments must be posted no later than November 14. Simply, just tell Palm which device you would rather have, the Pre or the Pixi. If selected as the winner, you will have your choice of receiving one or the other, free of charge, from Palm. Which one do you hope to win?

Palm Pixi spied in Sprint’s systems

Tags: , ,

palm-pixi-sprintThe webOS-based Palm Pixi appears to be just around the bend, possibly launching in time for the madness that is post-Thanksgiving and pre-Christmas shopping. An anonymous tipster has graced precentral.net with some new information, including spy shots, of Sprint’s inventory system as well as the CelleBrite shot right here that clearly shows “Palm Pixi” as a model for transferring contacts from one phone to another. The Pixi would sure make a good stocking-stuffer. Santa, are you listening?

Palm Pixi GSM prototype spotted

Tags: , , ,

Screen shot 2009-10-09 at 1.02.06 AMWhile we await the CDMA version of the Palm Pixi here in the States (Sprint), a GSM version was allegedly spotted in Vietnam. The GSM version has only 4GB of internal storage versus 8GB on the CDMA model. Yikes. The GSM version likely has a ways to go before we see it in production. Hopefully a GSM version will be available in the U.S. at some point (AT&T?), and hopefully it will have more than 4GB of storage.

Rumor mill: Palm Pixi launching October 20th?

Tags: , , , ,

Screen shot 2009-10-02 at 9.56.29 AMFriday just wouldn’t be the same if we didn’t have a rumor to run through the mill, and this rumor just may possibly be more fact than fiction. The Palm Pixi will allegedly launch in Sprint corporate stores and Best Buy locations on October 20th, less than three weeks from now.

We have no word on pricing yet, and with the Pre falling in price over the last few weeks, it will be very interesting to see how pricing plays out on the Pixi launch. Sub-$100? Free with contract?? The pricing is purely speculation on our part, but hopefully we’re not far off. Anyone interested in a Pixi?
